Audiovisual: History of beer in Santa Catarina

Produced by Exato Segundo and directed by Peter Andreas for the project “Santa Catarina on stage” from television channel RBS/TV, this documentary was shown in two parts in 2007. The documentary shows the arrival of immigrants to Santa Catarina and the social and cultural relationship they had with beer, from the manufacturing process to the simple pleasure of tasting. With characters who lived in a not-so-distant but very nostalgic era, the documentary shows the locations where the beers used to be home-brewed, a process that passed from father to son. Currently, besides the historical reference of beer production that came from the German culture, a new scenario is emerging in the state as many home-brewed beer producers are resurfacing, opening a new beer market with new flavors, colors and also news stories about this precious drink in Santa Catarina.
